What is the tablet shown on the CSC343 web page?


For those of you who have taken Classical Studies or an introductory course in Mythology, you may recognize the Linear B tablet shown above. Linear B tablets were first found in Pylos, Knossos, Mycenae and Thebes, on the island of Crete. It is believed that they were used to keep track of the distribution of goods, their production and consumption, that passed through the palaces in Mycenaean Greece (circa 1500 BC.) The writing was etched on wet clay tablets and dried to create a permanent records.
