The SIM CITY 2000 software package is
very easy to use. The manual
provides good examples of how to start the program and what options are
available once it is running. The step-by-step instruction of how to
initially install the software is invaluable particularly for beginners
who have never installed a game from CD-ROM before. The mini-tutorial
in the book helps in familiarizing the novice player to the game and
the titles and sub-headings inform the reader what the topic is about.
As for controlling the program itself, it is quite simple, once one has
familiarized himself or herself with the different menus and icons. It
is simply a matter of either pointing-and-clicking or entering a few
keystrokes to get an action initiated. Playing the game, however, is
another story. Although the controls are pretty basic, trying to please
the inhabitants can be quite frustrating. There never seems to be and
end to their needs. Aside from this fact, though, the program is
user-friendly and entertaining. Thus, although it does not take a brain
surgeon to use this software, it does take patience and some
understanding of the concepts involved in governing a city to fully
appreciate and do well in this game.
