Personal
I was born in 1975, in Israel. I was fortunate to study at the
Israel arts and science academy
(one of the best high schools in the world).
After high school I studied mathematics and computer science at Tel-Aviv University.
The place where I really learned software development and management was the operational computer
systems unit of the
Israeli Air-Force.
I served for six years working mainly on geographic information systems.
In conjunction to military service, I studied for masters' degree at the
Weizmann Institute of Science, where I discovered how fascinating computer vision is.
In November 2002 I moved (alone) to Toronto to start Ph.D. studies at U of T.
My main hobby is classical music. When I was in high-school, I studied
flute
with Michael Meltzer (now the deputy head of the music academy at the Hebrew university).
These days my understanding of music somewhat exceeds my level of playing.
Anyway, it is good enough to play with the
Hart House symphonic band.
