The purported capabilities of large language models have drastically transformed computational linguistics over the last seven years, and yet this is a disruption of an earlier disruption that itself had disparaged the use of linguistics and grammar. Is the result now a field that linguists and grammar can once again contribute to and benefit from?

This workshop is being organized to promote further discussion and collaboration on this topic. The workshop will include invited talks, collaboration sessions, group meals and hiking!

GALL will take place at the Hotel Ullensvang near Lofthus, Norway from 30th July to 1st August, 2026.
