  • The only exam aid allowed for the final is a basic (non-programmable) calculator. No other aids, including cellphones, will be allowed (even if they're used just to tell time). The Faculty of Arts and Science is very strict about unauthorized aids at final exams. The consequences can be significant: students may lose not just the aid but also the exam, whether or not they intended to use the unauthorized aid to cheat.
  • I will be holding office hours Thursday Dec 8, 6-7pm in BA2200.
  • Solutions to A2 are posted in the Assignments section.
  • Here's a cool illustration of how Bezier curves are generated using the Casteljau algorithm (lecture notes page 104). Make sure you also know about the direct generation method using Bernstein basis functions (lecture notes page 105).
  • Be sure to monitor the Bulletin Board for questions and general advice regarding A3.
  • The final lecture, November 30, will be given by Professor Aaron Hertzmann starting at 7pm and will cover special topics in character animation. Be sure to attend! In preparation, please read this paper.
  • Take a look at the Wooden Monkey Hall of Fame to see previous years' A3 submissions.
  • The Chair of Graduate Admissions, Graeme Hirst, would like to remind you that applications for admission to the computer science graduate program close in just one month, on 8 December, and that a successful application is not something that can be put together at the last minute. You can go to the DCS website for more information and links to the online application form (look for Information for Prospective Graduate Students).
  • Assignment 3 is now posted.
  • Chung-Lin will be holding the office hour today, Oct 27, from 4-5pm in BA2200 (help center).
  • Slides from Chung-Lin's tutorial on OpenGL cameras and lighting. Slides.
  • I've removed Exercise 3 from A2 and scaled the mark weights up approximately proportionately so that they add up to 50. The updated handout is available for download in the Assignments section.
  • A reminder that the course midterm will be held tomorrow, October 19, at 6pm in the usual tutorial/lecture room (BA 1230). Please plan to be in the room and seated before 6:10, at which time the exam will begin. It is 50 minutes long. The list of possible topics is everything covered in the class until last week's lecture, including the general overview of Computer Graphics covered in the first lecture. A complete list of topics can be found in the Lectures Section.
  • There was a typo in the numbering of the items for the programming part of A2. This is now fixed.
