Hello, There
I'm Kianoosh Abbasi
I love teaching more than anything else. Recently, I've had the chance to teach Web programming and System programming at University of Toronto. In the past, I also taught algorithms and data structures to high school and university students
Programming has been one of my most significant interests since the first grade of middle school (when I was only 11). The first programming language I ever learned was Pascal! Today, I'm skilled in C, C++, Python, and Java.
I'm experienced in web (back-end and front-end) and iOS development; I'm also familiar with clean coding, object-oriented programming, and design of algorithms. I've been working with Unix-based operating systems like Linux and Mac OS since the first grade of high school.
I enjoy watching and playing football (either in reality or in computer games!). I've been a big fan of FC Persepolis since when I was 6! Persepolis is the most popular and the the most honored club in my country! Among European football clubs, I support Liverpool.
I worked at Enigma as a full-stack web developer (back-end and front-end). It's a company that provides fundamental analyses and live data coverage of Tehran Stock Exchange.
I worked at Lyan as a part-time back-end and iOS developer. It was a startup founded by some senior students of Sharif university.
I did my Master's in computer science at University of Toronto. I worked under the supervision of Prof. Eyal de Lara, and my research focused on computer systems and edge computing.
I conducted a research internship at the Imperial College in database systems. I worked with Dr. Holger Pirk on the Voodoo System, as well as optimizing the sort-merge join algorithm.
I had a research experiment as an intern at EPFL Data Lab; of computer Systems. I worked on the DBToaster project with Prof. Christoph Koch and Dr. Amir Shaikhha.
I did my Bachelor's in computer engineering at Sharif University of Technology. I was admitted to the university by ranking sixth at Iran's national universities entrance exam.
