About me
I'm a Ph.D student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto working under the supervision of Geoffrey Hinton and Richard Zemel. I plan to graduate in 2012.
I completed my undergraduate degree in 2007 at the University of Waterloo in Pure Mathematics, Combinatorics & Optimization, and Computer Science. My undergraduate advisor was Chris Eliasmith. I completed my Master's degree in Computer Science in 2009 at the University of Toronto.
Research Interests
I'm currently interested in the development of learning algorithms and in particular the application of 2nd-order optimization techniques to deep and otherwise hard-to-optimize models. I'm also interested in sampling and inference algorithms, modelling high-dimensional time-series, and computational neuroscience.
