Announcements

Thursday May 1
Hand-marked A4s are now available to be picked up in my office. You have until May 9 to submit a re-mark.

Friday April 11
Here's is an exam review.

Thursday April 10:
A4 Extension: 11:59 Friday April 11 This extension applies to St. George students. In addition. please note the following advice:

Implement Save and Load last. If you don't manage to implement these two commands, you may still receive substantial credit for the other parts of your program.

Wednesday April 9:
Here is an exam summary by Jeremy Sills that concerns our shared exam.

Wednesday April 9:
Follow the same procedure as in previous assignments for registering partners. Since A4 allows various file names, you won't find an item "partner.txt" on the submissions page. Just submit a file "partner.txt" anyways.

Sunday April 6:
Extra help for A4: Monday 3-4 and 6-7 in BA3224. Thursday 4-5 in BA3224.

Sunday April 6:
Here is a Sample quiz 4

Wednesday April 2:
Here are sample solutions (PDF), and (PostScript).

Friday March 21:
Here is a Sample Quiz 3 for your consideration.

Thursday March 20:
Here are the A3 pairs I'm aware of.

Thursday March 20:
The threshold for Quiz 2 is 13/15. In other words, if you got 13, 14, or 15 then your quiz mark is 100%, otherwise it is some number divided by 13. Multiply this by your result out of 71 to get your mark out of 10 on assignment 2.

Wednesday March 19:
Quiz 3 will be held during lecture on Wednesday March 26. Quiz 4 will be held during lecture on Wednesday April 9.

Sunday March 16:
Extra help for A3: There are extra help hours for A3 in BA 3224 on Monday from 3-4 and 6-7, plus Thurday 11-12 noon, and 4--5.

Wednesday March 12:
Partner registration for A3: You must change partners for Assignment 3 (although it could be the same person as Assignment 1). If you choose to work with a new partner, here's the process for notifying me of your partnership:
  1. Create a file called "partner.txt" using DrJava, containing only one thing: your partner's userid on CDF. For example, if your partner had userid "c2abcdef", then the file "partner.txt" would contain:
    c2abcdef

  2. Submit "partner.txt" as part of Assignment 3. The exact spelling of the file name is important. If you and your partner have complementary entries (you submit their userid, they submit yours), then we will mark a single submission of A3 for both of you (the most recently submitted file in each case.).
Entries received by 11:59 pm, Tuesday March 18 will be valid partners, provided they aren't the same as for A2.

Tuesday March 11
It seems that the test cases that are being reported in A2 results are off-by-one. For example, one student got a message saying that he'd failed cases 41, 47, and 53, whereas upon inspecting his files I found that he'd failed 40, 46, and 52. We're working on correcting this. Notice that it doesn't change the total number of test cases passed or failed, simply which ones are reported.

Friday March 7
Some Assignment 1 automarking questions have not been resolved yet. If you've sent email to Geoff or me about a concern with your A1 automark, you should follow up by submitting a re-mark or esubmission request. Although this may seem a bit bureaucratic, it creates a paper trail so that I can be sure your concern is dealt with. The difference between the two requests is: re-marks are suitable if you believe that the marker made an error in evaluating your work. An esubmission form is suitable if by making a small change to your submission it suddenly becomes automarkable (for example, compiles).

Thursday March 6
Here are solutions (PDF), and solutions, (PS) to Quiz 2.
Monday March 3
Wednesday's in-class quiz will last 25 minutes, be marked out of 15, and have a structure like the posted example, except the last question (about the Date class) won't be on it.
Friday February 28
Here is a sample Quiz 2. This was used in the Fall and may not be identical to the structure I use next week. In particular, I plan to mark out of more than 6.
Wednesday February 26
Here are the A2 partners known to me.
Wednesday February 26
Quiz 2 will take place next Wednesday, during lecture.
Tuesday February 25
Some office TA office hours for A2 are available on Thursday 11am--1pm, in BA2200.

Monday February 24
Midterm solutions: morning version (PDF) and evening version (PDF).
Friday February 21
Office hours, 4--5, cancelled.
Thursday February 13:
Partner registration for A2: You must change partners for Assignment 2. If you choose to work with a new partner, here's the process for notifying me of your partnership:
  1. Create a file called "partner.txt" using DrJava, containing only one thing: your partner's userid on CDF. For example, if your partner had userid "c2abcdef", then the file "partner.txt" would contain:
    c2abcdef

  2. Submit "partner.txt" as part of Assignment 2. The exact spelling of the file name is important. If you and your partner have complementary entries (you submit their userid, they submit yours), then we will mark a single submission of A2 for both of you (the most recently submitted file in each case.).
Entries received by 11:59 pm, Sunday February 23 will be valid partners, provided they aren't the same as for A1.
