Bulletin Board Postings - Rules and Guidelines

  1. You must post to a topic that is specifically listed as (for credit).
  2. Your post must be relevant to the topic that you are posting to.
  3. You must demonstrate that you have given significant thought to the posting you are making.
  4. You are welcome to refer to information from the web. However, if you do this, you must both give the source (i.e., the Webpage URL so that we can view what you are referring to), and you must augment the original source with your own interpretation or additional information or why this page is particularly interesting or useful. You may not just copy something off of the web.
  5. Since you may choose to get into a discussion about something which tweaks your interest - without being marked for it, when you are posting for marks, be sure to indicate that this is the case by adding "for marks" as either the first or last line of your posting.
  6. Be sure to add your full name to any posting which you wish to get a mark for. If you don't change your user name in your profile, this should happen automatically.
  7. The second posting for marks cannot be made until after the first one is due, and the the third cannot be added until after the second is due.
  8. You are welcome to expand on, refute, or discuss the any posting made by any other student. You are expected to speak respectfully on the board at all times. Discussion is a Good Thing :-) (and unkind criticism is not.)
  9. Try to be interesting — make us all want to read what you have to say.
  10. The emphasis should be on quality, not quantity. It is far better to write a few (2 or 3) really good paragraphs than pages of babble (which no one wants to read.)
