Directions to Get to NA Day
The 24th Southern Ontario Numerical Analysis Day will be held in room
149 of the Earth Sciences Building on May 5, 2006. All lectures will be
held in this room. The Earth Sciences Building is ES
on the campus map.
The entrance
to this building closest to the meeting room is the one off Bancroft Ave.
All participants are invited to the closing reception at the Faculty
Club from 5:30 - 7:00. (The faculty club is FC
on the map and is directly north of our meeting room.)
If you are not familiar with the University of Toronto campus or Toronto,
you may find the following directions helpful:
Driving directions from west of Toronto:
If you are on the Queen Elisabeth Way (QEW) eastbound towards Toronto
from the west, continue to downtown Toronto.
If you are on Hwy 401 eastbound towards Toronto from the west,
turn south onto Hwy 427 after you pass the airport
and follow the signs to the QEW.
Then take the QEW east to downtown Toronto.
The QEW turns into the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto.
As you approach downtown Toronto,
you will see the CN Tower - the second tallest free
standing structure on earth - directly ahead of you.
Soon after you pass the CN Tower,
take the Yonge-York-University exit (which is the exit after Spadina).
Go north on York Street until it meets University Avenue.
Continue north on University Avenue,
following the directions for
Driving directions from east of Toronto:
If you are coming from the east towards Toronto on Hwy 401,
turn south onto the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) after Victoria Park Avenue.
Take the DVP south to Bloor Street. Drive west on Bloor Street
following the directions for
Driving directions from north of Toronto:
If you are driving south on Hwy 427 from north of Toronto, follow the
driving directions from west of Toronto
after you pass Hwy 401. If you are driving south on Hwy 400
from north of Toronto,
go west on Hwy 401 at the junction of Hwys 400 & 401
and then go south on Hwy 427
at the junction of Hwys 401 & 427.
Then follow the
driving directions from west of Toronto.
Getting to the Delta Chelsea Inn from the QEW:
Drive north on University Avenue. The third street after Dundas is
Gerrard. Turn right (east) onto Gerrard.
When you cross Bay street, you will
see the Delta Chelsea Inn at the south-east corner of Gerrard & Bay.

Getting to the Delta Chelsea Inn from Bloor Street:
Turn south from Bloor Street onto Avenue Road. Go around Queen's Park
Circle and continue south on University Avenue. (These are all really
the same street.) Turn left (east) onto Gerrard. When you cross Bay street,
you will see the Delta Chelsea Inn at the south-east corner of Gerrard
& Bay.

Getting to the Quality Hotel from the QEW:
Drive north on University Avenue. Pass College Street and then go
around the Parliament Building on Queen's Park Circle. Continue past
the junction of Queen's Park Circle and Avenue Road, now going
south on Queen's Park Circle for about 50 meters. Then turn right
(west) onto Hoskin Avenue. When you reach St. George Street,
turn right (north). The next street is Bloor.
The Quality Hotel is at the north-west corner of Bloor & St.George.

Getting to the Quality Hotel from Bloor Street:
Drive west on Bloor Street until you reach St. George Street.
The Quality Hotel is at the north-west corner of Bloor & St.George.

Getting to the University of Toronto from the QEW:
Drive north on University Avenue until you reach College Street.
At this point, you should go east on College Street, but you are
not allowed to make a left turn. So continue about 50 meters
north on University Avenue until you reach the start of Queen's Park
Circle. At this point, you are allowed to make a U-turn and come
back south on University Avenue.
When you get back to the intersection with College Street,
turn right (east) and drive one block (pass one light) west on College Street
to King's College Road. At this point you can enter the campus
by turning right (north) onto King's College Road, where you can park,
or continue east on College for another two blocks (another two lights)
to Huron street. You can turn right (north) on Huron street
to enter the Bahen Institute of Technology Building garage.
Getting to the University of Toronto from Bloor Street:
Drive west on Bloor Street until you reach St. George. Turn left
onto St. George Street and drive south until you reach College Street.
You have (as above) two choices:
(a) Turn left again onto College Street and drive one block east to
King's College Road. Turn left (north) onto King's College Road.
At this point you can enter the campus
by turning right (north) onto King's College Road, where you can park.
(b) Turn right on College
to Huron street. You can turn right (north) on Huron street
to enter the Bahen Institute of Technology Building garage.
Getting to the University of Toronto from the Delta Chelsea Inn:
Go west on Gerrard Street to University Avenue and turn north onto
University Avenue. Then follow the second half of directions for
getting to the University of Toronto from the QEW.
(It is about a fifteen minute walk from the Delta Chelsea Inn
to the intersection of College and St. George.)
Getting to the University of Toronto from the Quality Hotel:
Go south on St. George Street (you are actually walking within the campus)
and follow the one of the two choices mentioned in the directions for
getting to the University of Toronto from Bloor Street.
(It is about a ten minute walk from the Quality Hotel
to the intersection of College and St. George.)
For those who fly...
If you fly to the Toronto Pearson International Airport (the main Toronto
Airport), you can get to downtown Toronto by bus or taxi.
The cost of a taxi or an airport limousine to the downtown area
is about $35-$40 (CAD) one-way.
There is frequent bus service (about every 20 minutes)
from the airport to the downtown hotels,
including the Delta Chelsea Inn, but not the Quality Hotel.
Look for the airport
express stop outside the terminal and take the bus that goes to
the downtown hotels.
Of the dowtown hotels at which the bus stops,
the Delta Chelsea Inn is the closest to
the University of Toronto.
If you take the airport bus to the Delta Chelsea Inn,

The bus fare is about $16 (CAD) one-way,
or about $28 round-trip (expires after a year).
You can also get to the Quality Hotel or the University
by taking a bus from the airport to the Islington subway station.
(The fare is a little cheaper than to the downtown hotels.)
Then take the subway from the Islington station to the St. George station.
The St. George subway station is on St. George Street, about 25 meters
north of Bloor Street. The Quality Hotel is on Bloor Street,
about 25 meters west of St. George Street.
