Coming to a cinema near you: U of T computer science research
   

PhD candidate Rorik Henrikson demonstrates Storeoboard, 3D storyboard sketching software, to recent graduate Daphne Ippolito (BSc 2015) at the Computer Science Research in Action Showcase, April 2015 (photo by Jacklyn Atlas).

PhD candidate Rorik Henrikson, a member of the Dynamic Graphics Project (DGP) laboratory, supervised by Professor Ravin Balakrishnan, took his interest in early stage film and television planning to create Storeoboard, 3D sketching software for storyboarding.

Henrikson brought his early research to Immersed, the Immersive Technology Alliance (ITA) conference for technology makers, in gaming, film, consulting and academia. At the event, Henrikson met Canadian director and filmmaker, Dylan Pearce, who asked to use Henrikson's software in the development of the first 3D romantic comedy, 40 Below and Falling.

Undergraduate Research Showcase

Over 100 department members and as many passersby, attended the Undergraduate Research Showcase on September 22 at Bahen Centre.

More than 20 students also participated in a Co-Curricular Record (CCR) activity designed by Associate Professor, Teaching Stream, Diane Horton, to more deeply engage students in the research presented at the showcase.

Staff announcement

Computer Science welcomes Regina Hui to the Department in the role of Faculty Support Staff, working with the Database, Software Engineering, Computer Systems & Networks groups and the Teaching Stream Faculty.

Regina joins us from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design, where she played an instrumental role in their administrative office.

Her first day will be Monday September 28, and she will be located in Bahen Room 4237. Welcome Regina!
