Hi, I’m Zhewei, a computer science Ph.D. candidate at the University of Toronto working with Professor Yang Xu in the Computational Lingusitics Group. I am broadly interested in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Cognitive Science.
In particular, I am interested in building computational systems that are capable of understanding and reasoning about informal language such as slang, by incorporating knowledge from both linguistics and cognitive science. This line of research has the potential to improve downstream applications including machine translation and dialogue generation of informal language.
