Arya Rafii

I'm a first year graduate student in the department of Computer Science at University of Toronto. I'm fortunate to be supervised by Professor Maryam M. Dehnavi.

Previously

I completed my bachelors at University of Toronto, double-majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. My experience in undergrad blossomed an interest in formal logic theory and systems, which later transformed into my current research interests.

I spent a year working at AMD Markham (formerly ATI) as the lead engineer on the HIP Blender project, where I wrote the backend for the Blender 3D software to use the HIP ROCm stack on AMD GPUs.

After graduation, I spent a year and a half in Vancouver, Canada where I worked at Amazon Ads. There, I was part of the Ads Data backend team, building a platform that would serve all data used for Amazon advertising worldwide.

Research Interests

I'm mainly interested in parallel compute and HPC solutions through compiler and kernel optimizations.
