DDSMS: Drexel Data Semantics Management System

The Drexel data semantics management system (DDSMS) is aimed at managing semantic mappings from database schemas to conceptual models describing subject matters. Database practices suggest that data semantics amounts to establishing and maintaining semantic mappings from data to the intended subject matter. For database-resident data, it is managing the semantic mapping from the schema of a database to a conceptual model (CM) for the intended subject matter. The research on the data semantics management system involves discovering semantic mappings from legacy database schemas to existing conceptual models, searching the best fitted conceptual model(s) for capturing the semantics of a given database schema, maintaining semantic mappings when schemas and conceptual models evolve, and composing semantic mappings for data integration tasks.
