  • CSC351:Numerical Approximation,Integration and Ordinary Differential Equations, "The main course text is "Numerical Analysis: Mathematics of Scientific Computing", by Kincaid and Cheney. If you go to the Engineering and Computer Science Library or the Gerstein Science Information Centre, and have a look through section QA 297, you will see that there are many texts that cover the topics considered in our course. More recent texts fall into two main categories: Numerical Analysis texts and Numerical Methods texts. The former tend to contain many of the mathematical details that justify the algorithms that we use, while the latter tend to be less mathematical and generalize examples to justify algorithms. I leave it to you to decide which category you prefer. If you are looking for more "examples", have a look at a "Numerical Methods" text."
