Tutorial 11 - November 25, 2003

1. We will review what is required for an architectural design document.  This is needed for A3. 
   • Handouts
   • Slides
2. Here is a template for an architecture document from the Rational Unified Process (also available in MS Word).
   • You don't have to use it if you think you can do a good job without it.
   • If you choose to use it, don't use all sections, rather, choose only the key sections that are relevant to your problem.
   • Since you have two questions to do in A3, you are not expected to produce two complete architectural design documents, but rather one document with two parts (one for each question) and each contains only the relevant key sections.
3. A sample solution will not be posted here since it usually limits creativity.  In case you have difficulty following the tutorial material and the template, you should make use of the office hours and news group.

1. We will cover Template Method and Strategy patterns as well as the first introduction to architecture.

Tutorial 8 - November 4, 2003

1. The notes are available now.
2. We will cover Bridge, Flyweight and Decorator patterns.  The Composite and Facade are straightforward, you should be able to review them on your own.

Tutorial 7 - October 28, 2003

1. The notes are available now.
2. We will cover Adapter and Proxy patterns.  Examples used are from CSC407 Fall 2002 A2.
3. Format of presenting patterns is illustrated as well.  However, you do not have to provide an explicit diagram for each pattern IF you already have a diagram that illustrates the pattern in use.

3. This tutorial gives a flavor of how to do an Object Oriented Analysis of a given requirements statement. 

You are encouraged to go to this tutorial since it includes all that you need for your A2 part (a).
