Wayne Hayes's Photo Gallery

This is a mish-mash of pictures. They're mostly of me, because I don't take pictures much myself, but people keep giving me copies of their pictures that contain me.

Here I am at the Cabin of the University of Toronto Outdoors Club (UTOC) near Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. It is January 1997, and you can see snow outside the windows. I'm reading Robert A. Heinlein's Time Enough for Love, although I'm usually out cross-country skiing while at the Cabin in winter.

Another UTOC outing. This is to ``Petroglyph Provincial Park'' in Ontario, where there are Native North American carvings on some rocks that date back several hundred years. However, there is also a very nice hiking trail in the park. This was taken on our lunch break (the hike is a total of about 4 hours). Apparently the photographer thought I was looking quite idyllic. (If you can't find me, perhaps you should practice some more with those ``Where's Waldo??'' puzzles.)

(Summer 1996)

Also on the Petroglyphs hike, here is me, one of my closer friends (who also happens to be the photographer of the previous picture), and a flying saucer that abducted us about 30 seconds later. Or it might be somebody's thumb; I don't remember. (That's the problem with UFO abductions.)

(Summer 1996)

Here I am on the Pacific Ocean just west of Stanford Univeristy.

(Winter 1996)

Here are two mountains just north of Port au Basques, Newfoundland, along the Trans-Canada Highway. (I was told that locals call these ``The Boobs of Newfoundland''. I'm surprised there's not actually a sign to that effect.)

(Summer 1996)

Finally, my (even) lighter side. Here I am doing an Elvis impersonation, singing his Blue Christmas at the Department of Computer Science Christmas party. The guy to the lower left is Rich Paige, playing the guitar.

(Fall 1996)

... and here's me on Hallowe'en. Yes, I wore this costume all day, including giving the CSC209 lecture that day. My students then had absolutely no doubt in their minds that their instructor was insane. (Winter 1997) (Winter 1997)

Some pictures of my annual haircut.
