Converting Word Documents to ps and pdf
---------------------------------------

In order to do this you have to install an Adobe print driver on your
Windows workstation. Although Windows thinks it is a real printer, it is
not. However, once installed it can be used to generate ps documents
from Word documents.

1. Download from:

   http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html#Printer

   the Windows PostScript printer driver. You will be asked to click
   some links. Eventually you will end up at a new screen. When you are
   there make sure you select the driver titled:

   Adobe Universal PostScript Windows Driver Installer - English

2. Download and install using the following settings.

   Windows Welcome Windows -> Next
   Enduser License Agreement -> Next
   Printer Connection Type -> Toggle: Printer is directly connected to your
                                      Computer
   Local Port Selection -> Select LPT1:local port
   Select Printer Model -> Generic PostScript Printer
   Sharing -> select *no* for sharing and *no* for Printing Test Page
   Setup Information -> Click Install
   Printer Configuration -> Click *no* for Configuring Printer Now
   Click Finish

3. At this stage in the process you should now have installed a local
   printer called "adobe PS driver"

4. Open up Word and then open the document you wish to convert to ps

5. Click File (on tool bar) -> Print and select the "adobe PS driver"
   Toggle Print to File and click OK
   You will be prompted to supply a name for the file.

6. The file you saved above in step 5. is now in ps format.

7. To convert it to pdf, simply copy it over to one of the CSLab
   machines and run the command:

   ps2pdf name.cs name.pdf
