Erindale electronic submission
The following pages describe the process for submitting an assignment
electronically. The primary focus is submission of program files in
either of the CSC 108 or CSC 148 courses.
BEFORE YOU START THIS PROCESS MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ACTIVATED YOUR
ERINDALE ACCOUNTS. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW YOUR TUZO ACCOUNT
PASSWORD.
The process of submitting files electronically described below uses the
file transfer program available on the PC network.
To submit a file you
will transfer your file from your disk to a
directory on the Tuzo computer. (This is the same computer that you use
for email at Erindale.)
The File Transfer program is found in the Internet Applications menu.
To start, mouse click on the Start button in the lower left
corner of the screen. Move the mouse up to the Internet
Applications
menu. A sub-menu will appear on the right with the File Transfer
icon near
the bottom of the menu.
Clicking on the File Transfer icon causes a dialog box to appear.
- Make sure that the Remote Host Name box says:
tuzo.erin.utoronto.ca
- Enter your user name (account number) in the User Name box.
In the
example below you will see e0f2m2wm, replace this with your user name.
- Enter your Tuzo Password in the box called
Password.
Your Tuzo Password may be different from your PC network
password. If you have changed either password, the two may not be the
same.
Then mouse click OK.
A display with two windows will appear. The file system for the PC you
are currently
logged into is displayed in the upper window and the file system for your
Tuzo computer account is displayed in the lower window.
It will look something like the display below:
Make the appropriate changes.
- Mouse click on the c:\ in the path shown in the upper window.
A
dialog
box
will appear.
- Change the path to specify the location of the file that
you
want to submit.
In the example, the file is on a diskette in the
a:\
drive, in a directory called Assignment0.
-
Similarly change the path in the lower window to specify the location
where you
want the file to be stored.
Again in the example, replace the sample
login
name, e0f2m2wm, by
your login name.
Replace the assignment location (assignment number) by
the appropriate assignment location.
(If you are a CSC 148 student, you will also need to replace the
course
number.)
- Mouse click on the file you want to transfer in the upper window.
This
will cause the file to be highlighted (as with Assignment0.java in the
example.)
- Mouse click the Copy button on the right of the display.
The file name
will
appear in the lower window.
If you make changes to your program, you can resubmit your program using
the same process specified above.
