Brief project description:

We are looking for one or more students who have a taste both for both mathematics and computer graphics. Our goal is to represent various phenomena in computer graphics, such as fluid flow, reflectance functions, textures and illumination using different mathematical formalisms that would include one or more of: wavelets, spherical harmonics, Slepian functions and harmonic functions. The student would spend about a month of his or her time to become acquainted with a specific problem and its associated mathematics, following by about three months of implementation into a modern graphics system. As a result, the student will have gained experience in both the science and technology of computer graphics.
