A3 Announcements

Nov 6: Changes to the specifications

First:

Students in CSC150 are required to follow the changes in the specs posted on Nov 5 on the assignment Hints and Tips page.

November 5:
Question:What happens in the case of an injury. Does a team member get bumped
immediately, or do we wait for a regroup?
Answer:To keep things simple all movement (including Injuries and Recover) from
one group to another (team to hopefuls and hopefuls to team) happens as the
result of a Regroup instruction.

Second:

There are more clarifications/changes about to be posted to the assignment web site. They are currently posted under Prof. Pitt's assignments web page. They will get to the official assignment web page when Prof. Sills updates it.

Students in CSC150 are encouraged, but NOT required to follow the most recently posted changes.

Here's what is going on. Students in 148 are having more trouble figuring out how to deal with various parts of the specification, and the 148 instructors felt that it was in the students' best interest to clarify some of the requirements. The clarification also makes it possible to perform some automarking.

Since a number of 150 students have already finished or nearly finished the assignment, and have put some effort into justifying the design decisions they have made, I did not want to further modify the specifications. What this means is that your assignments will not have an automarking component to the mark. We will attempt to run your program with input that matches the format of the original sample input file. The markers will look at this output and compare it to the output that your design documents claims will be produced.

You are more than welcome to adhere to the changes in the specifications. If you have not already finished the assignment, you may find that they help you with your design.

You will not be penalized if you do not follow these changes. Your assignment will be graded according to the original specs plus the change posted on Nov. 5. Remember that a substantial portion of the mark is for the design document in which you must provide a convincing argument for the choices you made.
