Getting software from "Dreamspark"

A variety of Microsoft software is available without fee to U of T students, including "Visual Studio".

To get this software, you need to "enrol" in the "Dreamspark" programme (formerly known as MSDNAA), and then you get a URL and password and can search for and download software.

First, send an e-mail message, with any contents, from your CS account to
            msdnaa-opt-in-subscribe@teach.cs.toronto.edu

Your message must be sent from your CS account; e-mail from other places is automatically discarded.

Then you'll be asked to confirm a mailing list subscription. But it's not primarily used as a mailing list; it's used to supply the list of addresses for Dreamspark subscription.

Some time in a few days or so you will then get instructions on how to download software. (But the subscription confirmation should happen within a few minutes.)

Sorry that this is so round-about, but that's Microsoft's system for the availability of the Dreamspark-covered software. In particular, according to the terms of the licence, I can't do it for you.
