Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammars

Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammars (HPSGs) were first introduced in [Pollard and Sag1987], while the complete theoretical framework was published later in [Pollard and Sag1994]. The HPSG formalism was designed as a refinement of Generalized Phrase Structure Grammar, and similarly to GPSG, describes a linguistic theory [Shieber1986].
