Student supervision timeline
Below is a semi-chronological, semi-hierarchical timeline of the undergraduate and graduate students I have supervised. The timeline includes both formal and informal supervisions, either as the main supervisor or co-supervisor. However, it does not include all the teaching assistants that have been assigned to my courses. If you find this timeline helpful for whatever reason, I’d love to know how it helped you!
CSC110Y1 and CSC111H1 course materials #
I assisted Professor David Liu in the development of the “CMP1” course materials for CSC110Y1 and CSC111H1 from 2019-2020. Over time, this included the (co-)supervision of many students through the work-study program:
- Shannon Komguem
- Callum Cassidy-Nolan
- Amy Peng
- Evan Kanter
- Tiffany Tang
- Edwin Jiang
- Utsav Shinghal
Then, in preparation for my first time coordinating CSC110Y1 and CSC111H1 in 2021-2022, I hired three students (Daniel Lazaro, Dorsa Molaverdikhani, and Mark Bedaywi) through the work-study program. They helped me create additional practice quizzes and exercises.
CSC385H1 course materials #
I managed to secure new hardware for the Microprocessor Systems course (CSC385H1) in 2021. Then, I worked with two teaching assistants, Geroge Gianacopoulos (Fall 2021) and Lucas Wilkinson (Winter 2022), on creating five new labs.
CSC258H1 course materials #
Alongside Professor Steve Engels, I co-supervised Ava Danialy while we refined the CSC258H1 labs and adapted them for in-person use post-pandemic.
In the Loop #
I hired Zaina Azhar, a computer science student, through the work-study program. Starting in the Fall of 2022, she made major contributions to a new podcast that focused on advising students.
Taylor Whatley #
I, first informally then more formally, supervised (with Professor Steve Engels) Taylor Whatley on the development of the Saturn IDE and Titan MIPS Assembler. I also supervised Taylor’s CSC494H1 project where he developed digital logic simulator for me.
MSc in Applied Computing #
I was the faculty supervisor for Yuhang Liu, who completed his MScAC degree in 2023.
