Position description #

The Department of Computer Science is looking to start a podcast for students who are interested in Computer Science. The podcast provides students with a way to stay informed and hear advice from, for example, students, alumni, and faculty.

We seek a qualified applicant to assist with editing and publishing recordings. Duties may include removing parts of the raw audio, piecing together multiple recordings, and helping create the intro/outro. In addition, duties may include planning, revising and editing the script for an upcoming podcast. Other duties to be determined in consultation with your supervisors.

The successful applicant will have experience in editing audio and fluency in software like Audacity (or similar Digital Audio Workstations) or other web-softwares (e.g., Alitu). Finally, the applicant should have strong organizational skills and an eye for detail, be able to work independently, and be interested in computer science education.

While the work hours are generally flexible, you must be available for a weekly one-hour meeting with your supervisors during regular business hours. Tech resources required include a laptop with either Mac OS X, Windows 10, or a sufficiently recent version of Linux (Chromebooks, tablets, and similarly restricted hardware are likely not sufficient). A reliable internet connection is also required for downloading files, uploading files, etc.

In your cover letter, please include some of your favourite podcasts.
