I've graudated and currently working on building interesting web services at Amazon.com.
I am a graduate student in Department of Computer Science at the
University of Toronto. I am interested in systems and networks in
general, and have been
working with Stefan Saroiu
and Alec Wolman
on projects in the Internet systems
and security domain. Specifically, I am interested in designing and
building computer systems that make novel use of social information.
My undergraduate education was at Birla Institute of Technology and
Science (BITS-Pilani)
and I graduated in July 2003. Prior to joining
graduate school, I worked at Intel Corporation (Bangalore, India) for
three years.

Lockr: Access Control Schemes for Sharing Personal Content Online
Sharing personal content is surprisingly hard despite the phenomenal
growth of personal content. In this project, we are designing Lockr
- an access control scheme based
on social relationships that makes sharing personal content easy.
Lockr separates social networking information from the content
sharing mechanisms, thereby eliminating the need for users to maintain
many site-specific copies of their social networks.
I have designed and implemented a new Azureus BitTorrent client
that makes use of our new access control scheme.

Exploiting Social Interactions in Mobile Systems
In this project, we investigated the benefits of exploiting social
interactions in mobile systems based on a detailed analysis of real
mobile traces. Using trace-driven simulations, we demonstrated that
that exploiting social interactions leads to enhanced systems
performance and query hit rate in three diverse mobile systems: delay
tolerant routing, firewalls preventing mobile worm infection, and
peer-to-peer file-sharing system.

Industry Experience
-
Intel Corporation (Bangalore India)
Software Engineer, Aug 2003 - Aug 2006
My three year stint at Intel was with the Process Control Systems
group. I was a key developer for the two year long project on
migrating process control application (SPC++) from UNIX to
Windows (used C++ and Oracle9i). SPC++ is a next generation process
control application that monitors health of the processing equipments
at Intel facilities worldwide. I have represented as a
SPC++ product champion for Assembly/Test facilities.
-
Veritas Software (Pune India)
Engineering Intern, Jan 2003 - June 2003
I did my internship with Veritas Security Subsystem group (VxSS).
I developed and performed functional testing for credential
management interface of the authentication subsystem. This
helped in delivering a security system that allows uniform
fine-grained access control policies across all veritas products
(used C++ and Perl).
Education and Awards
Awards
- Wolfond Fellowship for Wireless Information Technology,
University of Toronto (Sep 2006 - Aug 2007).
- Merit Scholarship for all semesters of my undergraduate
education at BITS-Pilani.
Seminars
I actively get involved in following seminars and reading groups:
Miscellaneous
When I get some time, I enjoy playing lawn tennis. I am also interested in squash, badminton, and cricket.
