Research Interests

Semantic similarity measures for ontology terms, mapping discovery, ontology merging, how they relate and their applications to bioinformatics. I am especially interested in "biological theme" identification in microarray experiment data, as well as annotation-based assessment of gene similarity, the discovery of functional similarity of genes, and the integration of biomedical data to facilitate the association of genotype and phenotype information.

Research Projects

I am currently working on eliciting requirements for practical ontology design and management, extracting structure from folksonomies, and semantic similarity for ontology concepts and their applications.
