CSC 444 final project presentation
Objective
By now you should all be on your way to completing your projects.
While your projects will be evaluated by the markers, each team must
make a final pitch to the instructors to demonstrate the superiority
of your application. In other words, treat this as your closing meeting
with your clients.
Your project presentation
You should prepare a 10 minute presentation outlining the quality of
your project, its execution, and its final product. In particular, you
should address the following five items:
- Quality of the end product: you need to demonstrate to your
clients that you have conducted an effective test campaign, you
have applied proper fixes, and argue that your test cases are
consistent with your specification.
- Design and the overall architecture: you should address the
soundness of your design and architecture with respect to your
specification, experience, and future maintenance. You must
show trace-ability to your specification as well as to your code.
- Future endeavors: assuming that your client accepts your
application, the need to understand it and apply various changes
in the future. Present your argument for maintainability,
understandability, and enhance-ability of your programs. (You may
argue based on your documentations, their link to your design
and specifications.)
- Process audit: throughout the course we placed an emphasize
on the importance of devising and following processes, e.g.
change management, risk management, coding, and defect fixes.
Discuss one or two aspects of your development process that
convince your client.
- Improvements: based on your learning in this course and based
on your project experience, each member of the team must identify
one area of improvement. Here you only list them but each member
must write a one page essay. (See the
essay link for more details.)
What to hand in
Each team must submit a copy of their presentation before Nov. 23th at midnight.
Your presentation cannot be changed after this time.
The date and time of your presentation will be determined based on your practice
session.
The presentation must consist of at most 8 slides (including a cover
page) with fonts no smaller than 24. You may add 1 sheet (8.5" x 11" font 12)
speaker's note.
Each team will present their project to the instructors for 10 minutes.
After that, the instructor (and other markers) will ask questions on the
project. The question period will be 5 minute long.
Note that all members MUST be present. If a member fail to take part, that
member's mark will be 0 NOT the team. All member must also participate.
In other words, the instructor (and other markers) will address questions
to all members of the team.
Your presentation should be either in postscript, pdf, or power point. Submit
your presentation by sending an email to homy at ecf. Make sure the subject line
reads exactly as follows:
CSC 444 Project Presentation (YOUR TEAM NAME)
substituting your team name (or names of your team members in place of
brackets). Failure to use this subject format may result in penalties in your
presentation.
Place and time of presentations
Each team will be given 15 minutes during the last two weeks of classes. These sessions
will take place during the tutorial (practical sections). However, in cases of conflicts,
the lecture hours will also be used. The location and time of presentation
for each group will be posted.
Value of presentation
Each team receives 4 marks for their presentation and each member receives
1 mark for his/her question.
