Prerequisites: some knowledge of calculus and linear algebra
Load: 24 hours of lectures; two assignments; one project.

Required Readings: There is no required textbook for the class.
There will be one or two required papers or chapters for each lecture (see Lectures, Readings, & Due Dates). Many of these required readings will be available on the web. I will hand out copies of required readings that are not on the web.

Marking Scheme
Midterm test worth 30%
Final test worth 30%
Project worth 20%
Two assignments worth 10% each

Computing
Many of the algorithms will be implemented in Matlab, and the projects will be done in Matlab, but prior knowledge of Matlab is not required.

Auditing
If you are not registered in the class, it is possible for you to audit it (sit in on the lectures), but only if you get the instructor's permission and follow some rules. See the audit page for more info.
