Terminology: - the "Writer": the student who wrote the quiz - the "Grader": the student who graded the quiz - the "TA": the Teaching Assistant who will be assigning a mark of 0, 1, 2, or 3 to each student on the quiz. - the quiz is considered "good" (if there are very few incorrect answers), "bad" (if there are very few correct answers), and "ok" otherwise. The procedure the TA will be following is roughly as follows: 1. Each student starts out with a mark of 3. 2. If there is a dispute between the Writer and the Grader (there is a + or - in the box on the quiz), the TA will review the quiz and decide who was right. If the Writer is correct, there will be a "yes" beside the box, the Grader will lose 1 mark, and the Writer will lose 0, 1, or 2 marks according to whether the quiz is good, ok, or bad. If the Grader is correct, there will be a "no" beside the box, and the Writer will lose either 2 or 3 marks, according to whether the quiz is not bad or bad. 3. If there is no dispute between the Writer and the Grader (there is a checkmark in the box on the quiz), the TA will review the quiz and see if the Grader has done a good job. If the TA agrees with the Grader and Writer, there will be a "yes" beside the box, and the Writer will lose either 0, 1, or 2, according to whether the quiz is good, ok, or bad. If the TA disagrees with the Grader and Writer, there will be a "no" beside the box, the Grader will lose 1 mark, and the Writer will lose either 2 or 3 marks according to whether the quiz is not bad or bad. NOTES: The TA will review the grading of all the disputed quizzes in Step 2. However, the TA may or may not have time to review the grading of all the non-disputed quizzes in Step 3. If the TA runs out of time, he or she will sample some of them, and accept the grading of the remaining ones as final. To get a mark of 3, a student will have done 3 things: write a good quiz, correctly assess the grader of his or her quiz, and correctly grade another quiz. To get a mark of 0, a student will have done at least 2 of the following: write a bad quiz, incorrectly assess the grader of his or her quiz, and incorrectly grade another quiz. Everyone else will receive a 1 or a 2.
