Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 3902 represents Unit 1 employees (teaching assistants and student instructors) in the Department of Computer Science, under the Collective Agreement. Your Department of Computer Science CUPE stewards are Tim Fowler and Matthew Kitching.
Note that the Scarborough campus (UTSC) and the University of Toronto at Mississauga (UTM) also offer teaching assistantships. Positions on all three campuses are considered to satisfy graduate funding guarantees as well as establish First Appointment(s) and satisfy Subsequent Appointment(s) resulting from Article 16:06 of the Collective Agreement. Our department's Hiring Policy, as stipulated in Article 16:02 of the Collective Agreement, specifies how we implement the posting of jobs and selection of candidates.
