The Strategic Dependency Model

notion of Dependency

We call the depending actor the depender, and the actor who is depended upon the dependee. The object around which the dependency relationship centres is called dependum. (p12)

By depending on another actor for a dependum, an actor (the depender) is able to achieve goals that it was not able to do without the dependency, or not as easily or as well. (p12)

At the same time, the depender becomes vulnerable. If the dependee fails to deliver the dependum, the depender would be adversly affected in its ability to achieve its goals.(p12)

A dependency is intentional if the dependum is somehow related to some goal or desire of the depender
