The Strategic Dependency Model

The SD model aims to capture the intentional structure of processes, instead of the usual non-intentional, and non-strategic process models of activites and entities. It is a higher level characterisation of a process because it captures what matters to the actors, while leaving out the non-essential(p5)

The strategic dependency (SD) model provides an intentional description of a process in terms of a network of dependency relationships among actors. (p12)

The model can help identify stakeholders, analyze opportunities and vulnerabilites, and recognize patters of relationships, such as various mechanisms for mitigating vulnerability.(p12)

In the SD model, the depender's internal goals and desires are not explicitly modelled.(p12)

The Strategic Dependency model provides a set of concepts for modelling processes in terms of the intentional dependencies among actors. (p19)

The set of nodes and links in an SD model form a dependency network.(p19)

The Strategic Dependency model aims to present a picture of agents by explicitly modelling only their external intentional relationships with each other. (p26)

In the SD model, our main concern with routines is the delegation part. (p27)
