guiding questions

Following are guiding questions that should help the analyst in deciding what constucts to use when modeling the organisations and actors. It is important to note that the questions are driven by the constructs made available by the i* framework models and its specific semantics. Thus all question are driven by how i* tries to understand the intentional strategic reality of actors.]

goal dependency

What is the state of the world that needs to be achieved ?

Does the depender not care how the state of the world is achieved by the dependee ?

When problems occure does the depender suggests solutions, is it his responsibility to solve them ? (see p24)

task dependency

What the goal to be acheived in the world ?

Are the activites known to the depender to acheive that goal ?

Doesent it matter when the dependee does not know the goal that is acheived by the activities ?

When problems occure does the dependee suggests solutions, is it his responsibility to solve them ? (see p24)

goal dependency

When problems occure does neither the depender nor the dependee have no way of addressing the problem, of suggests solutions, ? (see p24)

Dependency Analysis I

For each dependency an actor has, investigate what would be the implications when the dependee would fail to deliver the dependum ?

How likely is it that the dependee might fail ?

What mechanisms (in terms of dependencies to goals of the dependee) might be introduced to minimize the possibility of failure ? (enforcable). What price would this enforement cost in terms of future relationships ? Can these future relationships be modelled by softgoals, by goals ?

Is there some other actor who could deliver the same dependum in case of forcasted possible failure of the current dependee to deliver -- (i.e. can i insure myself somehow ?)

How much self interest is there that the dependee is willing to deliver the dependum ? (assurance)

ability ...

Does an actor knows of a way to achieve some intentional element [such as a goal], but without necessarily being able to carry it out by oneself. Such as that parts of the carrying out delegated to some other actors and thus dependend on the dependees ability to carry it out.

[Does this imply that when an actor has a routine in which parts of it are not delegated anymore, that it can be considered, that the actor is able to do it and can carry it out., on a second thought also internal elements must be reduced to primitive workable elements such that also an internal element must be justifiable workable before an actor can claim a routine being workable !
