Flavio Rizzolo

PhD Candidate
Database Group
Department of Computer Science
University of Toronto

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and received my MSc degree in 2001 from the University of Toronto working under the supervision of Alberto Mendelzon. I spent 2001 as a Research Associate of the Department of Computer Science and Bell University Labs, and I started my PhD with Prof. Mendelzon in 2002. In 2006/2007 I was a visiting student at the IBM Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Toronto. I am currently finishing my PhD under the supervision of Renée J. Miller. My research interests span theoretical and practical aspects of managing large volumes of complex, heterogeneous data. I am particularly interested in schema mapping for data integration and exchange, ontology mapping for semantic integration, as well as structural summaries for metadata management and query evaluation in XML collections.
