  Welcome

I am an enterprise information and solution architect at Statistics Canada. I work for Enterprise Architecture Services developing conceptual, logical and physical information models and solution architectures for statistical metadata and master data management, knowledge management, schema mappings for data exchange and integration of heterogeneous sources, and XML Schemas and Web services for enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). I also participate in a number of international collaboration projects related to the modernization of statistical production, such as the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI), the Common Statistical Production Architecture (CSPA) and the Generic Statistical Information Model (GSIM). My previous experience spans multiple aspects of data management, processing and integration, including business intelligence and analytics, data warehousing, full-text indexing and search, ETL processes, data quality/cleansing, XML query processing (XQuery/XPath), ontologies (RDF/OWL) and J2EE technologies.

  Short Bio

I received my M.Sc. degree in 2001 from the University of Toronto working under the supervision of Prof. Alberto Mendelzon. I spent 2001 as a researcher and software developer of the Department of Computer Science and Bell University Labs, and I started my Ph.D. with Prof. Mendelzon in 2002.  During 2006 and 2007 I was a visiting researcher at the  IBM Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Toronto. I completed my Ph.D. in 2008 at the University of Toronto working under the supervision of Prof. Renée J. Miller. After graduation, I worked for three years in several R&D software projects developing data management solutions in collaboration with experts from IBM, SAP, Deutsche Welle, AFP and a number of Canadian and European universities, including the Universities of Trento, Ottawa, Carleton and British Columbia. I also served in the Program Committees of international conferences on data management, such as ACM SIGMOD, the ICDE Workshop on Data Engineering and the Semantic Web (DESWeb), and the Alberto Mendelzon Workshop (AMW). More recently, I have been involved in projects of the High-Level Group for the Modernisation of Statistical Production and Services and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). I'm currently a staff member of Enterprise Architecture Services at Statistics Canada.
