Thank you for your interest in my research group. To help me efficiently evaluate your application and provide you with a timely response, please follow these guidelines when emailing me.

Essential Information to Include:

• Clearly state your educational background and key achievements
• Describe your specific research interests
• Attach your CV and academic transcripts or records
• Include your target program (MSc, PhD, etc.) and intended start date

Demonstrate Genuine Interest:

• Review my website and current research projects before reaching out
• Identify specific projects or research directions that align with your interests
• Briefly explain why these areas interest you and how you might contribute to ongoing work

Email Guidelines:

• Keep your email concise, ideally under 300 words
• You're welcome to use AI tools for drafting, but ensure the content accurately reflects your background and interests
• A succinct email helps me quickly identify key information and increases the likelihood of a thorough review

Response Expectations:

Please note that I review all prospective student emails carefully. However, due to high volume, I typically only respond to candidates who meet the admission requirements for the University of Toronto and show strong alignment with my research areas. If you don't receive a response within 2-3 weeks, please understand this likely means I cannot offer you a position at this time.

For University of Toronto Undergraduates

I welcome motivated undergraduate students who are interested in gaining research experience. If you are a CS or ECE student with a GPA of 3.7 or higher and find my research areas compelling, please send me an email to arrange an in-person meeting.

Typically, undergraduate researchers in my group work closely with my graduate students on ongoing research projects, which provides excellent hands-on experience and mentorship. This collaborative approach allows you to contribute meaningfully to real research while learning from more experienced team members.
