COURTESY OF THE HAMILTON AVALANCHE AVALANCHE FALL 3 - 0 TO FURY IN OPENER May 26, 2007 Ottawa, ON - An own goal by the Hamilton Lady Avalanche gave the 2006 W-League Finalist Ottawa Fury the early break they needed in route to a 3 - 0 victory at Keith Harris Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Carmelina Moscato and Leah Robinson were the goal scorers for Ottawa. The Fury started strong, controlling the pace of the game from the opening kick. Kelly Parker missed wide just four minutes into the game and Annie Hamel headed a ball off the cross bar three minutes later. An unfortunate own goal in the 15th minute gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead. Moscato fired home her first goal of the season in the 37th minute, giving Ottawa a 2 - 0 lead at half-time. Hamilton played tighter defensively in the second half, a move that generated better quality through balls and scoring opportunities then in the first. Avalanche keeper Rosanne Couture made a great save on Parker that set up the ball for Robinson to shoot high into the net at the 75th minute. Stacey Stocco and Chiara Greco were booked late on after a brief scuffle. The Avalanche will look to earn their first victory of the season when they meet the Toronto Lady Lynx on Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Game time is 11:00 a.m. at Centennial Stadium in Toronto.
