Toronto opened the scoring off of the first play of the game. Sylvia Forbes got a head to a throw-in from Vonya Beckles, redirecting it past former Lady Lynx goalkeeper Stacy VanBoxmeer. Toronto made it 2-0 in the 25th minute when Sylvia Forbes headed Allysha Chapman's corner into the left of VanBoxmeer's goal. Hamilton came close to pulling one back in the 43rd minute. Chara Greco's free-kick from just outside the area founds its way through Toronto's wall but came off the crossbar, leaving the score 2-0 as the second half whistle sounded. The heat took a toll on players from both teams, and both coaches made numerous substitutions at the half to bring on fresh legs. Despite the changes, there was no scoring until late in the match. Deana Everett fired home Melissa Bigg's centering pass past Hamilton 'keeper VanBoxmeer in the 86th minute. Toronto made it 4-0 a minute later when Natalie Martineau's solo run ended in a thunderous low shot that found the bottom left of VanBoxmeer's goal. It was 4-0 to the Lady Lynx at the final whistle. Toronto goalkeeper Justine Burnier made three stops toward her shutout this evening, while Sylvia Forbes found the back of goal twice through 90 minutes of play. Toronto improves to 3-0-0 as a result of today's victory, while Hamilton remains winless after three matches. The Lady Lynx move into first place of the Eastern Conference's Northern Division with 9 points after this afternoon's victory. Toronto takes their unbeaten run on the road to Sudbury this Saturday when the take on the Canadians at 2:00 PM.
