OTTAWA, ON] Two late goals gave the expansion Hamilton Avalanche an unexpected victory over the previously unbeaten Ottawa Fury in Hamilton this evening. Goals from Heather McDougall in the 84th and 90th minutes were the undoing of the Fury who had not lost in regular league play since losing at home 1-0 to the Vermont Voltage in June of 2005. The Fury out shot the Avalanche by 14-8 but were unable to beat goalkeeper Stacy Van Boxmeer who earned the shutout. The Fury are on the road next Wednesday to play the Laval Comets and return home on July 1st to play the unbeaten Toronto Lynx at Keith Harris Stadium at Carleton University. Kick off is 6:00 PM. On Tuesday July 2nd, the Fury take on Everton FC :Ladies from England at Keith Harris; Kick off is 6:30 PM.
