CSC 148H: INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER SCIENCE

Late Policy

Late Assignments

All assignments are due at 6:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. The due time is strict. Quarter past the hour is late.

Late assignments will be handled based on a system of "grace days", as follows:

Try not to use the extra slack. Not surprisingly, you will find that once you get behind, things snowball quickly.

The printers are virtually guaranteed to be extremely backed up on due dates. You are strongly urged to make your printouts the night before.

Where to Hand in Assignments

Except for Assignment 0, which is handed in electronically, all assignments must be submitted to the 148 drop boxes. These are located on the second floor of the Sandford Fleming Building, near room 2305A. This is between the elevators and the bridge to the D.L. Pratt Building. Turn left as you exit the elevators and left again immediately. The boxes are labelled. Assignments will not be accepted anywhere else.

Make sure you know where these boxes are in advance; you don't want to use up a grace day because you lost 5 minutes trying to find them.

If you have your professor's permission to hand in an assignment later than Friday at 5:00 p.m., due to illness for example, hand it in to Professor Horton's office: SF 2302c. (If you put it in the drop box, we may not discover it for a long time and wont't be able to confirm when you handed it in.) Leave the assignment under Horton's office door if she is not in.

Illness

In the event of an illness or other catastrophe, get proper documentation (e.g., medical certificate). But if you have grace days left, use them; you need to present your your documentation to your professor only if you have no grace days left or if you think you merit an extension beyond 5:00 p.m. on the Friday. In such a case, you must contact your professor immediately, using the phone number listed on the course information sheet. We will ask you to photocopy and fill out the "Request for Special Consideration" form from the Course Handbook, and give it and your documentation to your professor as soon as you recover.

If you must miss a midterm exam, contact your professor immediately.
