Old Announcements -- After the end of term

Tuesday December 31: Getting your final exam back

Question: Can we pick up our final exams from you?
Answer: I'm afraid not; they are stored by the university in an archive. If you'd like to see your exam, you can go to your registrar's office and request that they retrieve it and give you a photocopy to keep. Unfortunately, there is a fee for this -- $15 I believe.

Saturday December 21: Course grades are not ready yet

Quite a few people have dropped by my office hoping to find the final course grades posted. They aren't ready yet. I expect to post them on my corkboard on Monday January 6th or Tuesday January 7th. I will post an announcement here to let you know when that has happened.

The average on the final exam was just under 60%. Not surprisingly, the two small proof questions were the least well done. I was surprised that the ADT question wasn't very well done. The pointer and tree questions were done well, as was the object-oriented programming question. I was pleased to see how well OOP concepts have sunk in.

I don't expect to make any adjustments to the grades. Without adjustment, the class average comes out to around 67 or 68, and there are tons of As and Bs.

Now stop thinking about 148 and get back to your holiday!

Sunday 15 December: Good luck

Good luck on the final tomorrow. Try to relax, read the questions carefully, and don't be shy about asking us a question.

Friday 13 December: Check your marks

Because I've been ill this week, I didn't get the marks up on my corkboard as early as planned. They're there now (except for assignment 3a), but since many of you won't get a chance to check your marks in person before the final, I've put them up also on this web site. Click here and check your marks. Report any errors in person to me, and bring along the relevant piece of work.

Click here to see averages and distributions for each assignment and test.

Friday 13 December: Assignment 3a is marked

Your mark on assignment 3a has been mailed to you on your cdf-PC account.

Friday 13 December: Assignment 3

Assignment 3 was ready for pick-up, as planned, starting at my Thurs 5:30 office hour. If you have a problem with your mark, you must report it in writing using the "Request for Remarking" form in the course handbook.

Since course grades will be computed and submitted as soon as possible after the final, you must deal with any mark concerns for assignment 3 right away.

Friday 13 December: Midterm 2 solutions

Solutions for midterm 2 are available on the Assignments and Tests page, or by clicking here.

Thursday 12 December: Solutions to 3 simple proofs

The solutions for the 3 simple proof examples (slides 114-116) are now in the course folder in the Engineering Library.

Thursday 12 December: Diane is back

I have been sick the past two days, but am back at work today. I will cover my office hours (3:00-4:00 and 5:30-6:30) myself today. Note that Professor Borodin also has hours today (1:00-3:00). For the full schedule, click here.
