On the whole, performance was pretty good especially compared to assmt 2.
A good majority of the students had the program working. A working program
with a decent report got many students 80-85+ marks.

Here are some of the common problems with the assignments.

1. Quite a few students did not think of putting pauses or asking the
   user for a key press between generations. Hence all the the generations
   flew by and we could see only the last one. 

2. Coding style was in general poor. 

3. Many students lost marks for not having a test plan on the report.
   But many students whose program did not work well wrote up a good test
   plan and earned up to full marks for it.

4. Regarding the questions,
   many students gave long answers in English, rather than being precise
   and using Big-Oh notation.  Most of those who used Big-Oh notation
   expressed the complexities in terms of the size of the grid.  They 
   forgot that, since we are dealing with sparse arrays, the number of 
   _organisms_ is the important parameter.
