CSC108H/A08H: Winter 2005

Overview

Welcome to the course webpage for the Winter 2005 term of CSC108H/A08H, an Introduction to Computer Programming! This course teaches the basics of programming in Java, an object-oriented language. The course is coordinated across the three U of T campuses (UTM, St. George and UTSC) and this is the common web site for all.

The organization of the course is somewhat different from campus to campus:

At UTM and at St. George, the course is delivered through 3 lecture hours a week plus ten 2-hour closed labs. During weeks that have labs you must go to to your closed lab; see the course information sheet for which weeks you have labs. The schedule of labs and the room numbers will be available on the "Closed Labs" page by the middle of the first week of term.

At UTSC, there are 2 lecture hours and 2 tutorial hours every week - the labs are incorporated into the tutorials.

Tutorials/labs are not optional - they are part of the course.

There are also 3 assignments, a midterm test (in week 6 at UTM and at St. George; week TBA at UTSC), and a final exam.

Website structure

Most of the information about the course, such as assignments, reading lists, and exercises, is shared. The campus-specific information, such as course information sheets and campus-specific announcements, is available on the campus-specific web pages. Use the links at the left to visit them.

You must read the announcements at least once a week.
