Anthony Vranic (from Microsoft) will discuss the .NET framework, what it is, and how to use it via VisualStudio .NET. to build amazing applications. He will also be collecting resumes, so bring yours.

How to build a multimodal (ie voice enabled) application
(or how I built an MP3 player I can talk to)

Farhang will talk about some/all of the following...
  • Multimodal applications and their uses
  • X+ V (includes short example's syntax, grammar , history)
  • Java Security Manager (certificates, public keys, private keys), how and why to sign an application and ...
  • MP3 file and their formats (this would include a short talk on playlists and different formats)
  • XML Parsing using event based tools such as SAX
  • VoiceXML and current applications

On the technical side, I will discuss J2EE app. server (I will go over the various components of an application server and how they can be used to develop enterprise level applications) and the current status of opensource java (mainly covering gcj and its derivatives.)
