HTML

HTML Documents: Plain text (ascii) file created by text editor.
TAGS in general:
- element is a fundamental component of the structure of a text document. Elements can contain plain text, other elements, or both.
  Examples: heads, tables, paragraphs, and lists.
- TAGS mark the elements of a file for your browser.
- Tags look like: left angle bracket (<), a tag name, and a right angle bracket (>).
- Tags are usually paired (start and end tags). The end tag looks just like the start tag except a slash (/) precedes the text within the brackets.
  Example: <H1> and </H1>)
- attribute included in some elements, appears in the start tag to convey additional information.
- HTML is not case sensitive (in general)
  Example: <title> is equivalent to <TITLE> or <TiTlE>.
- Browser support of tags varies. If a browser does not support a tag, it should ignore it.

URL: Uniform Resource Locator

Defined in RFC1738 and (URI defined in RFC2396). URI are more generic than URL. Really URI is the current standard.
