1998-1999 Results
Harvard University defeated the University of New Hampshire by a score of 5-4 in overtime on March 21st to claim the 1999 ECAC Division I title. In semi-final action, Harvard defeated Dartmouth 8-1 and UNH defeated Northeastern 5-1.
It was all Middlebury again for the 1999 ECAC Division III title. They picked up their fourth title in a row, as they defeated Sacred Heart by a score of 5-2 on March 7th. In semi-final action, Middlebury defeated Rensselaer 4-0 and Sacred Heart defeated Bowdoin 4-0.
In the inaugural 1999 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championship, Gustavus defeated St. Mary's by a score of 10-4 on February 28th. In semi-final action, St. Mary's defeated Augsbury 3-2 in overtime and Gustavus defeated St. Benedict 4-1.
In the 1999 Midwest Women's Alliance (MCWHA) Championship, the club team from Minnesota defeated the University of Wisconsin Steven's Point by a score of 4-3 in overtime on March 7th.
Harvard defeated the University of New Hampshire in overtime on March 27th by a score of 6-5 to claim the second-ever US National (AWCHA) Championship. In semi-final action, Harvard defeated Brown by a score of 5-3, and the University of New Hampshire defeated Minnesota by a score of 3-2 in overtime.
The Concordia Stingers defeated the University of Alberta Pandas by a score of 2-0 to claim the second-ever Canadian National (CIAU) title on February 28th. In the bronze medal game, it was the University of Toronto over Laurier University by a score of 1-0.

Harvard University defeated the University of New Hampshire by a score of 5-4 in overtime on March 21st to claim the 1999 ECAC Division I title. In semi-final action, Harvard defeated Dartmouth 8-1 and UNH defeated Northeastern 5-1.
Brown hosted the 1999 ECAC Women's Division I Ice Hockey Championships from March 20-21. The university was selected as the host site by the ECAC Women's Division I Executive Committee.
Each team faced off against every other team twice for a total of 26 conference games. The league's top eight teams as determined by the regular season standings advanced to the playoffs. The one-game quarterfinals were played at the higher seeds' home site on March 12 or 13 and the championship was held at Brown on March 19-20, 1999.
The women's game had been confined to the East -- but is making its way across the country, which may not be great for the Eastern teams but will be great for women's athletics. "I believe what will happen over the next 20 years to women's hockey is what happened to men's hockey 20 years ago," says Brown coach Digit Murphy. "Twenty years ago, (the men's team) was at the top of the NCAA. With the inception of scholarships, you may see a substantial drop in the performances of the ECAC institutions."
The second annual American Women's College Hockey Alliance National Championship, hosted by USA Hockey, took place March 25-27, 1999 at Mariucci Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The ECAC regular season and tournament champions received automatic bids to the four-team tournament. The remaining two slots were filled by at large teams. New Hampshire won the inaugural 1998 championship.
Congrats to the Brown Bears for winning the 1998 ECAC Division I women's hockey championship! On March 15th 1998, Brown defeated UNH by a score of 4-3 to claim the 1998 ECAC title. In 1998 there was no Women's Collegiate Club Championship, but there was an All-East Club Championship for club teams in the Eastern American States. It was held from February 27th until March 1st, 1998 at Clarkson University.
