Hey, My friend Carole is an excellent hockey player; she is one of the best players I have ever seen. One of her dreams is to go to the Olympics someday and she has been trying to find out where she should go to tryout for the canadian national team, or what she has to do in order to get there. Needless to say, she has not been very lucky. So, since her birthday is approaching, I thought that it would be a great gift to find out for her. I am a coach of a High School Girls Hockey Team in Vermont. I am also the Director of Women's Hockey for the State of Vt. I have been playing the game for 38 yrs, coaching for 15 yrs. I switched from boys over to coaching girls at the High School level three years ago. I will never go back to coaching boys! Girls hockey is highly skilled,team oriented and exciting to watch. When you take away the time spent thinking about checking and add to it the time spent thinking about being checked, you are left with players thinking a lot more about the game. That's girls hockey!

I am not a hockey fanatic. If I want to watch hockey on T.V.; the only hockey I'll watch is womens hockey. The reason being that I find their games far more interesting and tense than I do the mens hockey. When the womens Canadian Hockey Team won the Gold I was being scraped off the ceiling. I saw the first World Championship in Ottawa, pink uniforms and full contact. Angela James was very dominant. She laid out this open ice hit on a Finnish player that was magnificent. Let's say after that I was hooked to your sport. I really enjoy it and they Canadian girls are great role models I followed both Olympics, World Championships etc. Keep up the good work. The only sour taste I had when Angela James was left off the first Olympic team. I really felt she deserved to be there.

What a great site!! I grew up in Canada playing hockey and now live in the US and I not only play but coach my daughters team. I love hockey and am teaching my daughter to appreciate the sport also. In the South not too many girls play hockey so both my daughter and I play in the mens/boys league. We have a great time!! The most common saying we hear is "your a girl. You can't play hockey"! Well let me tell you, my daughter is the highest scoring player on her team and I can hold my own against any guy!! My husband is amazed at how aggressive I can be when in fact I am so gental and kind off the ice! Thanks for all the great info. Hockey chicks rule!!

NH Looking for Women over 20 for team: I am working with Tri-Town Ice Arena to put together a Sr Women's hockey team (Over 20 yrs old per USA Hockey rules). I am trying to get the word out there to past high school and college players, hockey mom's and others who may be interested in playing. We are building a 'B' Level team to practice once a week and play games home (at Tri Town Ice Arena) and away in New England against other women's teams. This is just my opinion of course, but you are an incredible resource for women's hockey. My main complaint would be that your links are out dated. I think your website is great source of information. See how hockey has integrated academics into your life! Hockey is not only a great way to get excercise, challenge yourself and make friends, it is a place where you automatically have 12 or so friends to grow together and learn life skills together. Being a "team player" is a very valuable attribute--both on and off the ice. I encourage more parents to "get involved" in the team, do something whether it be keeping stats, 50/50 draws or doing juice lists--stay involved in your kids lives--not just as taxi drivers. Lead by example.

hi i play for the london devilettes for 5 years now. Every team i made was a good team. we did very well during the season either coming second or first at the end of the season. And with tournaments we came home with a medal every time. But when it came 2 provincles we luck out. the set up if the tournament is very bad. we won 3 games after the 1st day. then the next game we lost after 3 overtimes. After that game we heard that we were out of the tournament. At the end of the tournament the ottawa team won 1st, which we beat every time. I think u should change the way provincles work. It should be double elemination. thank you.

Hi, my name is Christina and I play in Charlotte, NC. I have been playing hockey for 6 years and played for Team Southeast in Chicago in April at the Showcase (first annual for the girls!) It was pretty cool. We won our first two games but lost against Wisconsin or somebody. Everyone said we were just redneck hillbillies but we arent. Anyways, I just got home from the Southeast District Top 60 (top 30 15U and top 30 19U) Camp in Nashville, TN at Vanderbilt University. Our coach was Christian -insert swedish last name here] who coached Team Sweden to a Bronze medal at the Salt Lake Olympics this past winter. We got to see the medal, how exciting. Anyways, I guess I just wanted to get my name out there b/c i am hoping to go to college after this year (i'm a senior). This site was very helpful. I just found it using yahoo. I became interested in hockey after checking out a Carolina Hurricanes program. I liked one of the players and started going out to the games. After a year of watching and going to games, I decided this was a sport I wanted to play. The adrenaline when you score and the fans cheers. An incredible feeling. So as soon as I sell my flute I can get the rest of my equipment and start!

My name is Scott Klinger, I live in Santa Rosa CA and I'm the Coach of our in house hockey league. I'm writing to inquire about information for two of my players. They are twins in their second year of High School and are an incredible talent on the ice. They are two of three young women on our team. I want to help them achieve their goal of playing collegiate hockey but as you can imagine there are not a lot of Women's hockey leagues in the CA area. They are both decent students and I'm doing all I can to encourage them to keep their grades up. Their names are Marie and Amanda Blanc and just to let you know their dedication to the sport; they live approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away from our rink, often our practices are at 5am and they are always their, on time ready to go. I also coach a younger group of kids and Marie and Amanda always stay and assist me with these younger kids. They have played in tournaments at night after having practice in the morning. They genuinely seem to love the sport. They are both musicians and play in a local band. I want to do all I can to help them go to college. I was hoping that someone could help me with ideas or contacts for scholarships or information pertaining to women Hockey programs. I have never done this for anyone I coached so I'm looking for the most basic information as to where to start. I hope you are able to help me with this request. Thank you for your time. am doing research for my MA in performance sportswear design. am wondering why there arent any updates from 97/98. Hasnt there been any changes or events? Womens hockey did increase a lot in the 90s, but what about now? Hope you recovered from injuries and are playing again.
