hello, i am a girl that plays hockey. are team travels a lot to play teams because of the shortage of girls teams. we are also stuck with playing against the boys. i have no problem with playing them but many of the boys in our age have the attitude that girls should not be playing hockey. that really bothers me. remarks are said to us on and off the ice. i think that ity is really good that many new girls are starting hockey. it is a grewat sport and maybe somesday we will show those boys were are truly better. and by the way great site.

I became intersted in hockey by watching wayne gretzky! I started skating when i was 3 and then i started playing hockey on a boys team when i was 7 and before that i was a figure skater. I know that thats probably hard to believe but its true! know im 11 and im in tear 4 in my 2nd year of atom. Next year i will be going into girls hockey because the polotics are really bad since im the only girl. You should update your website. Minnesota is no longer the only state with girls' high school ice hockey. In 2000, New York State began girls' varsity ice hockey interscholastic play with 4 teams. This season (2001-02) there are 6 teams in the NYSPHAA. It's not 83, but it's a start and undoubtedly, there will be more teams next season.

I was thinking, if it is at all possible, that your pages could include stats on individual games that have happened. In particular, I was trying to figure out who played net for team Canada at the '97 gold metal game. That was an awesome game--I happened to be there--and the goalie that played that game, won that game! My buddies and I are unable to name the goalie. I think it was Dube, but I am not positive. Information like the stuff I am looking for could be good for trivia buffs.

I checked off a womens that plays hockey, but I don't think i am a women yet. I am only 10 but that was the beast choice. I would like to know where the 12U Nationals are in 2003 and 2004. I heard 2002 are in Ancorage Alaska. I wish I was a year older this year. I am playing for one boys team and one girls tems. I am on the ice 10 hours a week.

hey dood!! i think this whole tid-bit is great for every body, whether they play or don't play (like myself however i am working on changing that). its been extremely helpful and now hopefully i can kick some butt! im trying out for my highschools team and currently there are only 2 chic players not including myself and i just want to prove to every1 that hockey is not just a male sport (thats what most people think haha they are wrong) and that women are perfectly capable of playing. thanks again!

I wish I lived over in Canada or USA. There's hardly ANY womens inline teams over here in the UK. Don't even mention a league - there aren't enough teams to even run an all women's league. There are never any tournaments here - it's just so frustrating and absolutely impossible to get anywhere playing inline hockey in the UK. The ice hockey scene is not much better - about 20+ womens teams in the whole of the UK. They don't offer University hockey, and something needs to be done if the sport is ever to progress any further over here! The majority of British just like sitting down in an armchair, drinking beer, eating pies, watching the footie! Arses.

All I wanted to say is it's hard to find a girls hockey team here in New Brunswick. Where I live we don't even have a girls high school team. I have to play on the ladys team that has 10 players on it. It would be nice if there were more girls interested in hockey because I have about 2 years left with the boys and it would be nice to have a team that I can play on when I'm done with the boys. I am the only girl on the boys team here. I just wanted to put out there that we need more girls to be interested here.

Kia ora (means Hello in my language) I am just surfing and wanting to really get to a Russian Hockey gear site when I came across the article about Russian Womens Hockey by Barbara Pickering. I am a mum of a young boy who plays Roller Hockey here in New Zealand. It is fairly a smaal sport here and we dont have much of a range of hockey gear, or it is imported from USA and prices are very high. i became interested in hockey the second i started to watch it with my father and brother on tv, which was when i was around 9 or 10 years of age. the first team i ever played on was our school's school BOY hockey team, and trust me it was called boy for a reason, i was the only girl and the team let me know it, they hated me!! (partly cause i was better than some of them) but i kept with it and played ball hockey with all the guys that live around me and that was a totally different story, they fought over who got to have me on there team! now i am the captain of my schools all girls team, and i am currently trying out for our feild hockey team, which hasn't been at our schoool since 1976! so hockey will forever remain a part of my life!

Greetimgs from Missoula,Mt. I just discovered your website tonight.YEOW! I am really totally out of shape for most all sports (but walking). We moved here 5yrs. ago from Co. Springs, Co. A mere 70 miles from our beloved Colorado Avalanche team. I personally grew to loving hockey attending college games featuring the really top notch team from Colorado College. I loved that they didn't have all the game-delaying stupid fights that were so prevalent at the time. It was back before the US Hockey team won its 1st Olympic Championship (and only?) The CC team always hosted a holiday tournament that for several years brought the team over from USSR...plus other teams from all over. They always skunked the CC team by playing superb, clean, TOUGH hockey. ALWAYS did. But it really was fabulous for our amateur players playing the Russian (pros actually since they were all members of the Soviet Army)team. While we lived so close to the Avs we never afforded ourselves the opportunity of going to the game...always followed them on TV and when necessary KOA AM radio. Since we moved here for my husband's job, we have attended one Avs game in Calgary, Alberta. LOVED IT even sitting in the crows' nest. Our local municipal ice rink is really popular with both men, women (including girls attending our local University of Montana). I met one UM gal this summer, a new student from out of state, who is positively itching to play some hockey. We look forward to attending their games.

This isnt so much any info about anything more so a plea. I come from a long line of hockey players, good ones at that. I started playing in a league when I was in the 7th grade(12yrs old.)I played until last year, so i played 4 years, i letterd 3 of those years, and won a championship and a 1st place title. I played defense, and i was good at it, never missed a game or a practice. Only thing is I'm tiny (5 foot 2 118 pounds). I was playing in a guys league, I cant anymore im too small to play with guys my age and I refuse to play younger kids it wouldnt be fair to them.So this year i was forced to sit it out. My parents arent really helping. And i cant find a place to play, its killing me, i love the sport and i want to play when i get to college and its gonna be hard if i dont play this year. So please anyone that can give me info on a league for girls any where near Brooklyn New York please do. Thanks

I've played several years of hockey when I was a teenager...then gave it up for like 20 years...then got back into it 3 years ago...and played about 4 games and then remembered why i hated it in the first place, but I'll tell ya, being a coward sucks big black puck. My names Tabitha, and this page is alot of inspiration! I started playing hockey when I was 10 and have always played on a girls team. Our town (Dubuque) doesn't take hockey that serious so we really only play house league games. During our season we play in some tornaments, and currently won the IOWA GAMES 2 years in a row! 2 GOLDS BABY!!!!! Our team would like more tornaments but we only know of 5 other girls teams. I am so glad to see more information on womens hockey on the internet. I want people to know that girls can play that a lot of women are very good at it. I can't stand guys who say that women suck at sports and are to delicate to play hockey. And to the 94 USA olympic team, I admire you and thank you for showing everyone that we can play. I'm pretty stun, there are a few things I forgot to mention in my last submission. I have been playing hockey for 8 years, and every year up until last year has been on a boy's team, which is where I learned all my aggressiveness, and developed the love for the game. When I started to play I think I was 1 of maybe 3 or 4 girls who played in my town, and now there are alot more, we even had enough to start a girls team this past year! (I was one of the Captains). Well I think that's pretty much all I got to say. Excellent page, too.

South Australia currently has one main womens team called the Force with about 15 players. We play in a non contact league where all the other teams are males. With the help of two Canadian Imports this year (Tamra Jones & Laura MacKenzie)we have experienced fantastic results winning most of our games in the first half of the season. I love hockey so much! i got involved in it 2 years ago when i was 15. i play defense for an all women's team, in Waterloo, IA. we don't have much competition, but whoever we do play, we usually beat. womens hockey doesn't get much respect around here- we get the crappy ice times and no publicity. it's so cool that other women everywhere else are doing this too. maybe one of these days, we can get the respect that we deserve.

I am looking for info on the Women's leagues around Portland, Oregon or Vancouver, Washington. I'd played for almost 20 years until a car accident 2 years ago. I am now healed and ready to play.I had always played boys and then Men's league but would like to play Women's now. (My fiance does NOT want me playing with the men) I enjoy the sites on Women's hockey. When I started there was not much womens hockey and the attitude then was "girls don't play hockey". I had my first "hockey" stitches when I was 4. I played all my childhood intensely addicted to the game. I was not allowed to play on a team because I am a girl. That was in the late 70's and early 80's. In college, being a non-traditional student, I played in the club leagues for St. Cloud State University for 5 years. I was the oldest player and the Captain for 3 years. I had little support from my husband and little recognition that women actually played hockey. It surprised me too in a way. I grew up thinking I was the only girl who ever played hockey...I was always picked last in the park even though my skills were better than most of the boys. (The girl and the little kid always get picked last!) All of a sudden, I was playing with 3 club teams of women college hockey players! Where did they all come from? They all had a story similar to mine...some kept shor hair and snuck on the boys teams and others just played hockey by themselves. Needless to say, the unsupportive husband had to go...I graduated and moved to SD where I could be close to family. I have a 6-year-old son that plays in the Termite league too. He has inherited my passion for the game of hockey...although he has been dragged around the arena his whole life, spending his winters watching Mom play! Now I bring my passion to a new level of maturity. I built my experiences and life long struggles to a positive coaching style. I have been fortunate to be involved in a new generation of girl hockey players as a coach. I absolutely love it and I think I make a difference in their lives and hockey careers. (...Playing is like Heinz ketchup and coaching is like the generic brand...but I still got the ketchup!!!) So...your site is one of which is unique. There are not many sites on women's hockey like there should be. But thanks for bringing women's hockey to the world. It's about freakin time people notice there is women playing hockey! I am a huge fan of hockey, but am no longer capable of being able to play it. It is my utmost all time favorite sport in the world. I am actually incredibly good at it. I play defensive line. The guys say that they are incredibly scared of me once I am padded up and ready to go, because I don't take it easy on them and I like to body check them and am really good at it. All of my friends said it is a shame that I am no longer capable of playing any more because I have the stuff to go all the way with it. I have serious knee injuries and at the rate they are going I will be lucky to not be in a wheel chair within 5 or so years. I may have to get complete reconstructive surgery on my knees in a year or two, but right now we are trying my luck at physical therapy.

I am the captain of my team in a Men's League in Tampa, Florida where I have lived for the last 8 years. I am also a teacher and I am stating a hockey team at my school to join the new Florida Scholastic Hockey league.
