Windows95 Overview

Win'95 is an innovative operating system. It is a system which eliminates the computer phobias that many people experience, allowing users to experiment more. Win'95 is a new and improved version of Windows 3.11. Win 3.11, in itself, took a large step forward for operating systems by becoming a very popular and visually pleasing O/S. Win'95 has become more user friendly similar to its counterpart the Mac O/S. For example, it now has the ability to access documents from the desktop. As well, Win'95 follows the same pull down menu lay-out as the Mac O/S does.

Win'95 provides a help section which appeals to first time users and those who are up-grading from an older operating system. For beginners the Win'95 help section provides a guided tour which includes information on such things as: starting a program, exploring your disk, finding a file, switching windows and using help. For up graders Win'95 provides answers to FAQ's such as how to take control of their computer using Win'95. The help section also provides an introduction to Win'95 which includes a welcome, information on getting your work done, personalizing Windows, keyboard shortcuts and using Windows accessories. The "How to" section provides useful information about such things as using a network, safeguarding your work, setting up hardware and much more. The Tips and Tricks section, also under Help, contains data for setting up the desktop efficiently, maintaining your computer, running programs and more. The final secton found under Help is called "Trouble Shooting". This section helps users sort out any problems they may experience while using Win'95.

Since Win'95 is a mouse driven system it is easier to use than DOS, which requires memorisation of commands, basic directory and file handling skills. Win'95 takes away the computer phobia of beginner users with such features as a recycling bin which stores deleted files. This feature saves beginners from accidently erasing important files and provides a sense of comfort. This operating system allows users to personalize their operating system and is easy to use. Win'95 has provided all users with an operating sytem that takes the concept of personal computers to a new dimension.
