Powerpoint is an excellent presentation software. Some of its good features are listed below:

• It has 21 preformatted layout designs that automatically centre text, create bulleted lists, and import clip arts and charts. This could save a user an enourmous amount of time as he/she can simply enter the text in the appropriate places and get a professional looking presentation without having to do any layout designing.
• Its interface is very easy to use; it contains a number of menus, graphical icons, and wizards.
• It can integrate information from other softwares such as Microsoft Excel, Lotus 123, and Corel.
• This software can perform a number of functions - from preparing charts, graphs and spreadsheets to wordprocessing. It also has a spell check and many other text editing features.
• It supports features that are consistent with many software applications (it has the many of the same types of icons as Word, Lotus, Corel and Excel). This makes it easy for experienced users to work in this program and also offers them flexible features for customized presentations.
• This software has a huge range of specialized text and image editing features:
  • colour text and adding shadows
  • copying text block with drag and drop
  • creating speaker's notes - a summary of the whole presentation, and audience notes from a text document
  • drawing features can add shadows to a text block, change shapes of images etc.
  • there are hundreds of grphical clip art images which can be easily resized, recoloured, rotated or modified by cutting and pasting different parts

Powerpoint is a great presentation software program but it may not be the best wordprocessor or spreadsheet software. It lacks some text editing features such as a thesaurus which is commonly present in other word processors. It can also not perform some complex mathematical functions such as logarithms and exponential functions as other spreadsheet softwares can. However, all the features that it does provide are very simple to work with. Mouse drags, cut and paste, and clicking can perform almost all the editing features.
